Disabled Sailors

Disabled Sailor

Who will benefit

Trips on this catamaran will be open to both physically and intellectually disabled people of all ages. We would also welcome the medically fragile, for example, people with long-term illnesses such as cancer and heart patients.

Sailing is one sport where levels of disability can be almost irrelevant. On our catamaran disabled people will participate alongside able bodied friends and family on equal terms.

Sailing can help achieve the following
for disabled participants:

  • Improved self esteem
  • Empowerment
  • Independence
  • Freedom
  • Dignity
  • Motivation
  • Improved social and communication skills

Medical benefits can include:

  • Improved muscle tone and strength
  • Improved coordination
  • Increased range of movements
  • Most of all SAILING IS FUN!
